Project Brief
The Score is an American alternative rock duo formed in New York City in 2011, now based in Los Angeles. The group consists of Eddie Anthony Ramirez (lead vocals, guitar) and Edan Chai Dover (backing vocals, keys, producer). Chris Coombs and Logan Baldwin are touring members for the band. They were signed to Republic Records in 2015, and are currently signed to Imperial Records.
For the music video for their song 'Best Part', a team of animators and artists led by Dean Krupka and Peter Quintana created the amazing visuals. The video followed the band on their journey, starting in the East Coast, through multiple rejections by record labels, till their success in Los Angeles. The background visuals represent this journey, from the lush greenery of the East Coast, through the Canyons, and reaching the desert landscapes of South California.

Rough Sketches
70+ frames were planned out compositionally, following the storyboard and script.
The rough sketches were sketched out on Procreate.
Full Colour Illustrations
Each frame was coloured in Photoshop, with layering done as required to allow for easy animation. The colour schemes followed the East Coast to West Coast journey as well as a day to night transition, beginning with brighter nature shots, continuing onto dry desert shots and sunset colours towards the end of the video.
